The BAK Foundation is a non-profit organisation with the
primary purpose of making a difference to the lives of
people in need around our local community of West &
North Yorkshire. The foundation focuses on tackling a range
of issues from child hunger to mental health, whilst
supporting other charities through fundraising and offering
voluntary services. By collaborating with local charities, we
offer a helping hand for those in need.

The Ramadan Food Pack Campaign

This year the BAK Foundation held a Food Pack campaign in April, during ramadan. We distributed 200 food packs to those who are in need the most. During the Covid 19 pandemic, many people lost their jobs which saw an increase in more people requiring the basic needs. We partnered with Give a Gift to help distribute 4,500 food parcels which equalled to 20,000 meals. We would like to thank all our volunteers who gave their valuable time to hand deliver the food parcels to all the houses. We aim to continue our work by helping those in need.

The Annual Charity Bike Ride!

The BAK Foundation helps raise £3,550 for local charity, Leeds Mind!

The BAK Foundation hosted its annual charity bike ride on Saturday 17th July in aid of Leeds Mind, a charity that help supports people suffering with mental health problems.

A group of 18 cyclists took to the roads at around 9am in pursuit of completing the 3 Abbey Cycle Challenge. The riders began at our head office in Pudsey, setting off down into Kirkstall Abbey followed by a scenic but very hilly journey into Fountains Abbey where the riders stopped for some lunch. The third leg of the route saw the cyclists make their way to Bolton Abbey via some gruelling hills on what was the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures soaring to 30 degrees! By this time some of the riders were really feeling the heat, but through their resilience and grit, the group managed to finish together back at the office completing the challenge in around 10 hours. The final count for the total amount raised was £3,550 surpassing our target of £3,000!

BAK Foundation directors Nazneen Khan organiser of the event and Babar Khan who completed the challenge said “it was an incredible journey from start to finish, which could not have been possible without the support of all involved. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible and thank you to all the cyclists who took part in our event! We look forward to continuing our work with local charities such as Leeds Mind in the future to help raise much needed funds and awareness for the incredible work they do.

Gemma Green, fundraising officer at Leeds mind, who kindly visited us on the morning of the ride said “What an absolutely amazing achievement from everyone at BAK Foundation. The money raised will really go along way in making such a huge difference. We have really felt the effects of Covid-19 over the past 18 months having not been able to fundraise. But with the help of charities such as the BAK Foundation we can help even more people suffering from mental health issues”

It was great to see people from within our organisation participate in the event. A massive thank you to Babar Khan (Director), Anna Rudkin (HR), Daniel Haxby (Call Centre), Zarak Khan (Marketing) & Jason Cullen (Snap Fitness) for being involved. Our bike ride is an annual event, and we are already planning for next year. So, if you are interested in being involved make sure to reach out.

And finally, a bigger thank you to everyone who supported the event by either donating or volunteering. Without your kind donations we would not have been able to achieve our target! Please keep an eye out for any future events.
